My personal donations from 2018-2019
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb in his skin and walk around in it.” ~ Atticus Finch
My primary care physician, Dr. Gerry Doyle was a gifted healer and a mad scientist. He experimented with HIMSELF FIRST so that he could speak from personal experience with his patients. He made a relaxation CD 20 years ago, because after he tried meditation he realized his patients could benefit. He wrote a pamphlet about anxiety and depression because disparate information needed to be distilled...for his patients. He wore a Fitbit so he could talk about how many steps he earned walking from the MBTA boat to MGH each morning. He gave up Diet Coke to see if how he might ache less and feel better. He tried safflower oil to see if it helped with weight loss. Most importantly, he enthusiastically talked about his personal experiences with his patients! And, perhaps this is precisely why I am now writing a Blog.
I wept when I learned that he died suddenly this June, feeling a sense of panic without his reassuring and informative guidance. His loss is our collective loss.
So, in honor of his extraordinary legacy, I use Dr. Gerry Doyle as my guiding influence for working with my clients and "walking in their shoes." I want you to know that we are in this organizing journey together! I, too, have experienced a sinking feeling in my stomach after dropping off 10 bags to Goodwill. However, I can tell you I have never wished for anything back. I have also felt a RUSH of ENERGY when gazing at my newly edited closet, returning once an hour to feel good again and again. One thing I know FOR SURE, being organized is a FEELING, and it feels GREAT! #itsafeeling #juststart

I needed a reminder that I also have never wished for anything back so thank you! I have much more to donate.
